Workshop in local area

Local participants in UB workshop came back to their aimags and conducted local workshop in November among teachers of kindergarten and teachers of 1st and 2nd grade students, parents involved in project. Total 43 teachers of the 1st and 2nd grade students, 49 kindergarten teachers and 39 parents have respectively participated in workshops that have been held on Ulaanbaatar, Khovd Orkhon, Dundgovi and Dornod aimags.

As for workshop for parents in the Ulaanbaatar, Educational wave NGO has organized while workshop for teachers of 1st and 2nd grade students and kindergarten has been organized by management of the selected school and kindergarten respectively.

The following noteworthy questions and recommendations have been taken by parents and teachers during the local workshops.

а) Questions

Ø How to develop OER? From where can we get an advice and how can we develop qualified OER? How does curriculum improve? (teachers from School # 3 in Dundgovi aimag)

b) Recommendations and problems

Ø I heard that your website has over 750 materials. I have toddler with 2 age. It might be taken a long time, if I will search information relevant to my children from only one window named as “Pre-school education”. (Father from Ulaanbaatar)

Ø We can make a public awareness on your website for parents if website introduction will be copied and delivered them to kindergartens. It would be more attractive for parents if introduction will be colorful. (Methodologist from Kindergarten # 4 in Orkhon aimag)

Ø It is useful to share experience and knowledge as gathering in parents’ hall for once a month. (Parents in Dornod aimag)

Ø There is still lack of recommendations for teachers on how to improve ability to interact with parents. (Parent in Orkhon aimag)

Ø It is difficult to directly use recommendations and advices in real life even though there are numerous recommendations on that. Because, we do not know whether it is true source or not. (Kindergarten teachers in Orkhon aimag)

Ø I’m still looking for good methods on how to make homework by children? (Mother in Orkhon aimag)

Ø It is hard to know health requirement and standards of children’s toys. (Parents in Khovd aimag)

Ø Do not have experience and knowledge on how to make homework by children in interesting and simple way. My children always watch TV for long hour. I do not know how to make a limit on this. (Parents in Khovd aimag)

Ø Our internet speed is so slow. Thus, curriculum development has been made inefficiently and improperly. (Teachers in Kindergarten #1)

в) Necessary materials to be posted on Internet

Ø It would be useful and supportive if you will post various methods for physical and intellectual development of the children as well as small-tips or tools for children-centered training that can be appropriate for using in any lessons and daily activities on your website. Also, by posting information and materials on educational theories which oriented toward improvement of teachers’ knowledge on theory and educational methods on your website, it certainly will be influenced positively on teachers’ abilities to develop curriculum, make a presentation and do researches. Ø Certain approaches or information on development of curriculum and its improved methodology have needs to post on. In addition, there is a need to post training materials that are available for using directly and best lessons developed by kindergarten teachers in video way? (Teachers from Kindergarten#4 in Orkhon aimag)

Ø Please post recommendations on how to play with children at home as well as provide us with list of toys for children with description. (Parents in Orkhon aimag)

Ø We need international experiences particularly, developed countries, on how to interact with children and curriculum development for pre-school children. Also, curriculum development of the lesson and video lessons of teachers who are winners of the qualification and ability competition on interaction among children, and interaction between parents and children are in need of posting on your website. (Teachers from kindergarten # 42 in Ulaanbaatar)

Ø Please open a new stage in your website for students to post the following materials including model curriculum development, questionnaire, methodology, approaches, materials and presentations, working papers and new methods for creative thinking. (students from Kindergarten college at Kindergarten #42 in Ulaanbaatar)

During the local workshop teachers, instructors, relevant officers and management of the kindergarten and school decided, that they will develop the following materials and post them as OER on our website (www.davlagaa.mn). At the same time to develop those materials, all stakeholders will give their comments on materials to be developed due to the improvement of the quality.
