DREAM IT Project organized “1st National ICT4D Seminar” successfully

Over 100 research partners including representatives from IDRC, project Board Members, subproject team members, Member of the Parliaments, political leaders, policy and decision-makers, stakeholders and key country practitioners and researchers attended the 1st National ICT4D Seminar at Chingis Khaan hotel on 26th January, 2010.

The 1st National ICT4D Seminar organised by DREAM IT project, supported by Canada’s International Development Research Centre (IDRC).

The one-day National Seminar  increased awareness of ICT4D in Mongolia and introduce the DREAM IT project, its objectives, preliminary outcomes and policy recommendations for the delegates, specially to Member of the Parliaments, political leaders, policy and decision-makers and stakeholders.

There was main session in an innovative format of interactive multi-stakeholder panels with questions and comments from the audience.
Mr. D.Enkhbat, Member of the Parliament, made an opening speech. His message went on say ”This National Seminar can develop a common understanding of how we can maximize opportunities the ICT4D”.

Ms. Maria Lee Ng Hoon, Senior Program Specialist, IDRC presented about Current activities of IDRC in Mongolia. Ms. Maria provided an informative updates on the key program areas of IDRC, namely Environment and Natural Resources Management (ENRM), Information and Communications Technologies for Development (ICT4D) and Social and Economic Policy (SEP) and Innovation, Policy and Science (IPS).
Mr. Z. Enkhbold, Member of the Parliament, presented about the ICT4D in Mongolia and represented Mongolian Government perspectives on the ICT4D.

There were four parallel seasons:

Session 1. ICT4 Education
Session 2.  ICT4 Governance
Session 3. ICT4 Environment
Session 4. ICT4 Health

The main sessions had simultaneous interpretation in  English and Mongolian and four parallel sessions had English interpretation.
